They design their own clothing and offer cycling kit that is designed to deliver a blend of comfort and performance at a reasonable price.

Admontem are one of the latest players is the cycling apparel market. They promise a 'premium handcrafted cycling kit at honest prices'. Coming it at well under $300 for the Jersey and Knicks combo they certainly have done a good job at a time where you can spend more than that on a pair of knicks alone.

Being new to the market Admontem joins at an exciting time, there's lots of good kit offerings out there and riders have never been so keen to get their hands on the latest kits.

QUALITY

We see a lot of kit at La Velocita. For a first season we think that Admonem has done a great job, they've backed up their claim of a premium offering nicely. What particularly stood out to us about the Admontem kit was its cut. This is something that new offering usually struggle with, but Admontem has done a great job. It's clearly designed for speed and performance.

While Admontem has produced a mid-level priced kit, they have not scrimped when choosing a pad. Theirs is from Cytec, one of the best in the business and is made in Italy using a multi-density foam and a super-soft anti-chafing fabric. It's a quality piece.

The choice of material's is good, all feel good quality and overall the jersey and bibs are very nicely put together. There's no fly away threads and the amount of stretch in is good. From a weighting perspective, the material is light, almost to the point where when combined with race cut it was feeling it was part of you, and suited to hotter weather riding.

Melbourne has been treated to some great weather of late and we were able to test this kit on some really long rides out in the hills. Overall, the longer I rode with this kit on the more I liked it.

RIDE - ALL ROUNDER JERSEY

The fit was excellent and it looks great. The jersey is understated, and predominately navy blue with a burgundy sash across the middle. It gives the appearance of strength, and is clearly designed to make the rider feel comfortable.

Admontem tell us that each jersey is handmade using the 'highest-quality materials'. The design is aimed at wicking moisture away from your skin to keep you comfortable... I really put the All Rounder Jersey through its paces on some very tough hills, and it was hot. Thanks to the jersey I barely noticed the heat. This jersey really breathes really well, keeping pretty dry given the conditions.

We Really liked the cut of the jersey. On the bike there’s no loose flapping on the descents and the tight fit and stretch in the fabric really helped us get down into a good aerodynamic tuck with no pulling. The neckline is extra long, giving some protecting in cool mornings, and a feature we liked in an increasing tred for ultra minimal 'aero' collars. The cut here is also good, comfort without being too constrictive around the neck.

The zipper, while not a offering a hidden designed, its colour works well to blend in with the top and form part of the overall design. The rear pockets were strong and kept the essentials tucked away. We found it easy to reach back and access the pockets to easily move things around whilst riding. There’s also an added zipped pocket for valuables that offers that extra storage space.

ALL ROUNDER KNICKS

We loved the jersey and the knicks also did not disappoint. Aspects of the knicks were up there with the best I’ve tried. The fit snuggly without feeling too tight. I found that I was riding extra smoothly as the knicks delivered a good blend of comfort and performance. Like the Jersey, I found the shorts breathed really well and when put through their paces they really delivered.

It’s important to feel comfortable on the bike and a good pad is critical in this respect. Admontem's pad is Italian made and it's clear that Admontem has not skimped on the pad. A good move. I found the pad helped to keep me comfortable whilst not inhibiting my performance.

One of the most comfortable aspect of these Knicks was the elastic leg grippers. They kept the shorts tight to the skin without any irritation or pulling. While they were great they could have perhaps been just a little wider.

Riding in this kit was a pleasure. If performance and comfort is what you are looking for then Admontem's All Rounder Jersey and Knicks are well worth a look. The great thing with the design is that it is appealing to be bought individually, or at $288 for the two pieces is great value for a quality and high performing kit.
