Ben de Riter is the weekly rider! Standing 6'6" he’s an imposing figure, and this guy can ride! Ben is a passionate cyclist who loves all things do with the bike whether it be his local climbs, cycling kits, taking pics on and off the bike, smashing out fast times or the coffee stops in-between.

Anything with a bit of personality! Handmade titanium has always has always been the dream, with some seriously talented builders around such as Baum, Firefly and Festka! I’d go a Passoni with some sweet Campag.
FAVOURITE LOCAL RIDE
I’m lucky enough to have some of the best riding in Victoria on my doorstep, but my favourite would have to be the Patch loop. Heading up to Emerald via The General Food store of course! Then dropping down into Monbulk and through the very scenic rolling roads of the Patch - back up to Emerald and roll back down Beacy – Emerald Road.
MY CURRENT CYCLING GOAL IS...
To continue to enjoy my riding and promote the sport of cycling to as many people as possible, there’s also the hope that I’ll get on the track sometime this winter and see if I can’t put some of these watts to good use!!
WHEN I AM ON THE BIKE...
I like to listen to some music, have a bit of a sing and just zone out a little! The endorphin release during the journey is reason enough for everyone to jump on a bike.
HOW DID YOUR LOVE OF BIKES COME ABOUT?
When I was a kid my mother couldn’t get me off my bike, building jumps and doing skids. But I lost that through my teen years as I pursued a football career, through constant injury I got sick of riding the spin bikes at the football club during rehab so went out and purchased my first road bike and it all flowed from there!
SHARE A CYCLING MEMORY
All of my best cycling memories don’t actually involve me riding a bike but watching my sister. Seeing her come 7th in the 2015 National Road Race was a moment that will only be topped by watching her win it in 2017!!
I LOVE TO RIDE BECAUSE...
It brings people from all walks of life together, whether you’re a student, a tradie, a doctor or a teacher once you step over two wheels you’re all equal. A great leveller.
But let’s be honest, I do it just to beat my brother and sister!! And Strava, always Strava…
