Why do you ride?

People always ask me why? Why I have get out on the bike each day, why risk it on the road, why choose the bike?

It's not a quick question to answer and I suspect it is one of those things you either get or don't get.

Riding, for me and for us at La Velocita, is so much more than transport.... more than a way to get from A to B.....

For some it is all about the bike, a mechanical masterpiece, custom built and running super smooth.  For others it is about the rush, the speed of a open mountain descent, the effort, the breath, a full on focus on giving it all you have.  It can be the relaxation, the journey or a way to escape.

It gives some a purpose, the training to achieve that 100km ride, or get to the top of a hill or mountain.  The feeling of taking in a breathtaking view, a sunrise, or the rush along the dark path on the work commute. For many it's just a simple as giving them freedom. To ride is to be part of a community, the climbs, the friends, that chat with a stranger, sharing stories or comparing bikes and equipment.

One thing is clear, for many riding is not a choice. It is a way of life.
