The new Canyon Ultimate CF Evo looks insane

*HEAVY BREATHING*

We have a loose policy on media releases. They have to pass the spit-take-test. If it’s interesting enough for us to spray coffee across our computer then we’ll publish it. The Canyon Ultimate CF Evo is one of those.

WAIT, HOW MUCH DOES IT WEIGH?!

Ok, let’s get right down to weenie baiting; there’s a rim brake and disc brake Ultimate CF Evo and they weigh 5.68 kg and 6.00 kg in medium frame size excluding pedals. The frames and forks are am ethereal 665g / 270g for the rim brake and 675g / 285g for the disc variety.

How the flip have they done it? It starts with the highest-grade carbon they could get which, according to Canyon, required “special permission from the Japanese Ministry of Defence just to be able to use”. Weird flex, but we’ll allow it. We’ll also put in a special request for a Canyon/Japanese Ministry of Defence collab for the most kawaii hill climbing bike in history. But we digress…

The rest of the build is appropriately bonkers to hit those numbers.

Numbers aside, Canyon claims “it’s not just about numbers (STRONGLY DISAGREE - LV Team). Each frame features exclusive, reduced artwork that perfectly complements the bike’s carbon aesthetic.” Really that’s code for ‘it’s really friggin light and we didn’t want to bulk it up with thicc paint’ but there’s certainly a minimalist beauty to builds like this. You have to respect that uncompromising commitment to lightness.

The rest of the release has all the superlatives you’d expect but we’ll skip all that and just show you the pretty photos!
