Rogers Bespoke - meet the custom steel frame builder making works of art

A Port Adelaide warehouse is the home of Rogers Bespoke, South Australia’s only commercial steel frame builder. The one-man operation is the brainchild of James Alderson, a man committed to mixing the best modern frame-building techniques with the bicycle’s oldest frame material. The results are some of the most beautiful bikes putting rubber to the road.

Why La Velocita.

Perhaps this is something I should have done sooner. It's the why behind La Velocita. Why did it start, why the name, why the approach, what's your background, why, why, why. People have been asking me these questions a lot recently, so here it all is...

Why La Velocita.

The Open U.P. - One bike/build to rule them all

Roaming the roads and trails of Adelaide is an extraordinary bike. It’s an Open U.P., the revolutionary bike that can take mountain bike and road/cyclocross wheels.

This particular bike has been built to an impossibly high standard. I met the owner, the bike, and the builder so I could tell the story of this sublime machine. To protect the owner’s privacy, I refer to him as Mr LMA (Luckiest Man Alive) for reasons that will be very obvious.

Buck!t Belts: a very special use for your tyres

In a quiet unit block in Adelaide's eastern suburbs is the workshop of Buck!t belts creator, Craig Northam. On the surface, Buck!t converts used bicycle tyres into belts, watch straps and wallets.

Leeana-Kate James #WhyBeNormal

Why be normal?  If you want it bad enough then set yourself unrealistic goals, push yourself to the limit and then go out and achieve it.

That’s the motto of Leeana-Kate James, an up and coming road and track cyclist that has just signed to the team WhyBeNormal? She's moving across to Milan to race fixed and road bikes, designing cycling apparel and generally doing rad stuff.

Two girls, two Malvern Stars, one gear, lots of ice-cream and the trip of a lifetime

In honour of International Women’s Day I’d like to introduce you to two female cyclists that inspire me. Aged 19 and 21 they left Melbourne way back in 1946, on their Malvern Star bikes for the adventure of a lifetime.

James Pane - Road National Championships Experience

Being the nationals there would have been a much bigger crowd than what you would usually expect, how were they?

The crowd created a great atmosphere around the course and lifted all the riders to push that little bit further. It was a good feeling to race past the start/finish line with people lining the streets cheering you on. Although the crowd on the hill were not nice enough to give me a push on the last lap!
