Next to Skin is based in Italy, they make and distribute high end base layers and wind and rain jackets through Dash Velo in Australia.  The latest product in the market by the guys at Next to Skin is the 'CAMU'.

It will be available in short or long sleeve versions and is marketed as a technical base layer 'designed for those who want to wear technical underwear before, during and after sports'. We've been using the short sleeve Camu the last few weeks to give you a first look.

The first thing we noticed about the Camu is it's super light weight and of course the Camu design. It's a good all round base layer, it does a better job than we expected on cold mornings and also manages to keep you cool and dry on warm days. Perfect for the Australian Southern states Spring and Autumn. We have not pushed it into cold weather territory yet... as it has not been cold, but we'd expect that you wan't something a little heavier.

On the bike the Camu is really comfortable, we had no irritation from seams or labels. The construction and fabric used also move really nicely with you so you don't feel any pulling. We're big fans of base layers and this one does a good job of getting the moisture away from your skin, and to your jersey.

Next to Skin tell us that it's designed for casual use, we have not used it in that way, but once winter rolls in in Melbourne it might be just the extra layer you need on a cold day.

Construction quality is good and definitely a big step up over the base layers from Next to Skin that we tested last year. The fabric used has that definite technical feel in the hand and on ours the finishing was all good with no fly away threads. It's been through the wash a pile of times and still looks great.
