The Weekly Rider - Robbie McEwen

Robbie McEwen is the Weekly Rider! One of Australia’s cycling greats, he has 12 Tour de France stage wins to his name.

He's now moved into media and gave us great insights during SBS's coverage of this year's Tour de France.

Above all, Robbie still loves ride. We found out why.

Name: Robbie McEwen

Lives: Nobby Beach, Gold Coast

Dream bike: A cross style bike for on and off road riding with a dropper post, suspension forks, disk brakes & 28mm semi cross style tyres... One bike that I can do everything on.

Favourite local ride: Currumbin Valley

My current cycling goal is: do enough to look fit!

When I am on the bike... I have heaps of ideas.

How did your love for bikes come about - seeing BMX in 1981 got me interested. My first BMX that christmas got me loving bikes.

Share a cycling memory: as a kid taking shovels to the bush on the bikes and building bmx tracks. It's a great feeling to ride your own design of jumps.

I love to ride because... it keeps me fit, clears my head.
