Cam McConville is the La Velocita Weekly Rider. One of Australia's favourite V8 Supercar drivers, Cam rediscovered his passion for riding after getting into triathlon as a form of cross training to keep up with the demands of modern motor racing.

Name: Cam McConville
Lives: Melbourne
Dream Bike: 2015 GIANT Propel (Current is a 2014 version!)
Favourite Local Ride: Cafe Racer to Mordi and back
Current cycling goal: To get out there more often! Work has taken over lately, but really enjoy riding through Winter, particularly Kew Boulevard which is the Melbourne city riders version of hills!
When I am on the bike I: All my stress seems to subside. I find that I sort most of my daily issues out on the bike.
How did your love for bikes come about… I Raced BMX as a 6 year old, never really stepped off since. Later in life for fitness and racing. I began triathlon in 2005 as cross training for motor racing.
I began with a few Sprints and then moved to Olympic Distance and was hooked, but mainly as the bike was my strongest leg. After a 10 year gap from triathlon I returned and went into Ironman racing last year.
Share a cycling memory: I rode in the Dolomites in Italy back in 2005, best week on a bike by far!! We completed 500kms in 5 days, all uphill. Also, I created a charity ride in 2004 which was from Melbourne to Bathurst over 10 days (1111km total.) called “Climb to the Mountain”. This was to raise money for Make A Wish and we raised $50,000. It was a monster ride and an amazing experience.
I love to ride because: I catch up with like minded people and de-stress. Plus I am fortunate to have a bike courtesy of GIANT Ormond and it needs to be ridden.
