My current cycling goal is... To encourage more women to get into riding!

When I am on the bike I... am in my element. Cycling gives me a chance to unwind, think, relax and at the same time set goals and challenge myself.

How did your love for bikes come about? I have always loved riding bikes. It is the sense of freedom and independence that I enjoy most. I got into road cycling about 6 years ago as a form of cross training for elite ski racing. I am now crossing my skills over to mountain bike riding, and even dabbling in cyclocross this winter. It’s addictive!

Share a cycling memory - “Eversting” this year with 20 other strong inspiring women is an experience I will never forget. We rode nine consecutive laps up Mt Donna Buang, a total of 8,848 vertical metres in the one ride – the height of Mount Everest.

Starting at midnight, it took over 19 hours to finish the ride. It was incredible to see the amount of support for all of the women on the day. Momentum in women’s cycling is growing rapidly, and it’s great to be apart of that.

I love to ride because... it is an opportunity to challenge myself and be rewarded. The camaraderie I experience in cycling, amongst women in particular, is like no other. I enjoy spending time in the outdoors with like-minded people, who seek good company, adventure and a challenge!
